Green Mountain Reservoir
At 7,912 feet (2,412m), Green Mountain Reservoir stores 153,639 acre-feet of water behind a 309-foot high earthfill dam. Under the direction of the Bureau of Reclamation, the dam was completed in 1943.
A dual unit power plant at the base of the dam generates 21,600 kilowatts of electricity from the regulated Blue River streamflow.
The reservoir is located 20 miles north of Dillon Reservoir in the Blue River Valley, adjacent to Highway 9 between the towns of Silverthorne and Kremmling.
The reservoir was built as part of the Colorado Big Thompson (C-BT) Project as a storage facility for West Slope water.
