Dillon Reservoir

Lake Dillon ReservoirAt 9,017 feet (2,748m), Dillon Reservoir stores 254,036 acre feet of water behind a 231-foot earthfill dam. Completed in September 1963, Dillon Reservoir is the largest water storage facility in the Denver Water system.

The Dillon Reservoir project diverts water from the Blue River Basin through the Harold D. Roberts Tunnel, under the Continental Divide and into the South Platte River Basin to serve the City and County of Denver.

The development of the reservoir in the early 1960s required the relocation of the entire original town of Dillon to its current site at the edge of the water. Today the large body of water and its shoreline support a broad range of recreational activities.
